15 most anticipated smartphones of 2021

It’s hard to complain about the lack of good smartphones in 2020. He was remembered by devices such as Xiaomi POCO X3 and M3, realme 6 and 7 versions, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, iPhone 12, and several other models that fought for our attention. Do you want to know how mobile phone manufacturers will delight us in the coming year? Then we invite you to familiarize yourself with a selection of the most anticipated smartphones of 2021.

15. Xiaomi Mi 11

Xiaomi presented the Mi 11 on December 28 in China.

Much of the talk about the Mi 11 is speculation. However, one confirmed feature is the presence of the Snapdragon 888 chipset, which will be equipped with many of the flagship smartphones of 2021.

Other rumors include a move to a QuadHD (2560 × 1920) display, a 6.9- or 6.6-inch Samsung Super AMOLED panel with 120 or 144Hz refresh rates, and a 32MP selfie camera.

Mi 11 will also receive a capacious battery up to 4600 mAh, wired charging up to 55 W, and will support work in 5G networks. The price of the new item will be rather big, to match the size – 612 for the regular version, 811 dollars for the Pro version.

14. Vivo X60

Vivo has confirmed that the X60 series will launch in China on December 29, although the phones are likely to go on sale in January and won’t hit Europe until 2021.

The leaks so far indicate the presence of a 4,300mAh battery and a Samsung display with a 120Hz refresh rate. And if it is confirmed that the thickness of the Vivo X60 is only 7.3 mm, it will make it the thinnest 5G smartphone in the world.

Besides, the latest smartphone from Vivo will be the first in the world to feature the Samsung Exynos 1080 chipset.

13. iPhone SE 2 Plus

This anticipated successor to the budget iPhone will feature a 5.5-inch or 6.1-inch Retina HD display. Besides, the new Apple smartphone is said to have a bezel-less design to keep up with the latest trends in the mobile industry.

To reduce the cost of production of the iPhone SE 2 Plus, Apple may abandon Face ID, and the Touch ID fingerprint scanner will be built into the side Home button.

The redesigned Bionic chipset will make the phone more powerful and more efficient. The iPhone SE 2 Plus is expected to be priced much lower than the standard iPhones.

11. Moto Nio

Nio is the codename for the new Moto G phone, due to hit stores in early 2021.

The phone is expected to be the first Moto G phone to be powered by the Snapdragon 800 series chipset. And Motorola will keep the affordable price of the device, thanks to the Snapdragon 865 chip, and not the newer 888.

Other leaks point to a screen with a refresh rate of 90 Hz, a triple rear camera (64 MP + 16 MP wide-angle sensor and 2 MP depth sensor), a dual front camera, and an adaptive refresh rate display.

10. Samsung Galaxy S21

Before the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S20, the naming strategy for Samsung Galaxy S devices was easy to predict as the company stuck to sequential numbers. However, after Samsung switched from the Galaxy S10 to the Galaxy S20 in 2020, it is now more difficult to determine what the next Galaxy S will be called.

Most likely, the new product will be called the Galaxy S21, as this name fits well with the year of release.

According to unofficial information, the new expected smartphone from Samsung will receive a 6.2-inch bezel-less display and an array of four cameras on the rear panel: wide, ultra-wide, and two different telephoto lenses with 3x and 10x optical zoom. Combined with the powerful new Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, the Samsung Galaxy S21 will try to compete with the iPhone 12, at least in terms of performance.

Probably, along with the S21, its sibling S21 + will be released with larger screen size, and, possibly, a more capacious battery.

9. OnePlus 9 Pro

Surprisingly, OnePlus smartphones still don’t get the massive attention they deserve for their consistently high-quality hardware and superior technical support.

Perhaps this is due to the high price of the devices and the weak performance of their main camera in comparison with their counterparts.

Rumors give us some hope that the company may change its approach to mobile photography in the OnePlus 9 Pro. Published renders show a rectangular module with two large and two small lenses.

According to unofficial data, large lenses will have a resolution of 48 MP. In terms of sheer performance, the OnePlus 9 Pro will be an absolute beast, with a Snapdragon 888 onboard, at least 12GB of RAM, UFS storage, and possibly a 6.7-inch 144Hz display.

8. Google Pixel 6

The Google Pixel 5 failed to be the 2020 breakout, mainly due to the mid-range Snapdragon 765G chipset, which, while fast enough, cannot compete with the top models from other manufacturers. Rumor has it that Google’s most anticipated smartphone of 2021, the Pixel 6, could get its processor from Google.

While it would be an exaggeration to suggest that Google’s chipset can compete with Apple’s A14 Bionic, the proprietary processor will certainly set the stage for the company’s new smartphones to compete with high-end flagships.

Google usually releases a new smartphone in September, so we can expect the Pixel 6 to arrive at the same time. However, according to network source Max Weinbach, in 2021 Google may step back from its tradition and announce a new mobile phone in March.

7. Oppo Find X3 Pro

The Oppo Find X2 is one of the most underrated smartphones of 2020. It has a great user interface, a 120Hz curved AMOLED screen, a powerful Snapdragon 865 processor, 65W fast charging, and great build quality.

However, the price is rather big – 72,990 rubles. The Oppo Find X3 Pro will be another great flagship of 2021, with the top-end Snapdragon 888 chipset, and improved Color OS 11. Its 6.7-inch touchscreen will have a resolution of 1440 × 3216 and an adaptive dynamic frame rate from 10 to 120 Hz.

The phone will be powered by a 4500 mAh battery with wired (65 W) and wireless (30 W) charging.

An interesting feature will be the dual antenna of the NFC module, which will allow you to use both sides of the device for payment. The manufacturer promises to significantly improve the camera by equipping it with a new generation of periscopic zoom. So far, this is all that is known about one of the promising new smartphone products of 2021.

6. Microsoft Surface Duo 2

The first Microsoft Surface Duo to feature two screens made a lot of buzzes when it was announced in 2019, but disappointed when it launched in the fall of 2020.

The specs were mediocre, the Snapdragon 855 processor was outdated, NFC was missing, and the interface seemed flawed. Some of this might be forgiven were it not for the $ 1,399 price tag.

So why did we include the Surface Duo 2 among the most anticipated smartphones of 2021? Despite all its shortcomings, the Surface Duo has shown itself to be a promising device, and it offers something truly unique on the market.

This gadget has a foldable design, supports work with a stylus, and is a hybrid of a phone, tablet, and e-book. It features two 5.6-inch 1800 x 1350 screens and can be used together (albeit with a large hinge in the middle) to form an 8.1-inch 2700 x 1800-pixel screen. We can only hope that the second version will receive an improved “filling”, which will make it more attractive in the eyes of the most demanding gadget lovers. The Snapdragon 888 processor, NFC, and a little more RAM would do the Surface Duo well.

5. Galaxy Z Fold 3

Recently, there was news that Samsung is killing the Note series and there will be no Note 21 Ultra this year.

Instead, the long-awaited Galaxy Z Fold 3 will appear. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to be one of four foldable devices that Samsung will unveil in 2021. This interesting new smartphone will feature S-Pen support and an improved hinge mechanism. The fold of the folding screen will be less noticeable. You can also look forward to an IP rating for water resistance, which is lacking in the current generation of the Galaxy Z Fold.

Most likely, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be released in the third quarter of 2021.

4. Xiaomi POCO X4, POCO X4 Pro

After the tremendous success of Xiaomi POCO X3, which has everything (except, perhaps, a metal or glass cover), Xiaomi is simply obliged to release an updated version of this smartphone. And, according to unofficial information, the announcement will take place in the last quarter of 2021.

The POCO X3 didn’t have any special extra features, but the upcoming POCO X4 may have some major changes, including the camera resolution and display matrix.

So, the novelty can offer an AMOLED display and an array of four cameras with the main sensor of 108 MP.

3. Realme 8, Realme 8 Pro

There has been a lot of talk about Realme getting ready to launch the Realme 8 series next year. It will build on the success of the Realme 7 series, which currently features some of the best smartphones in the mid-range market.

For example, the Realme 7 Pro delivers top-notch 65W fast charging that charges the battery in about 30 minutes. Realme already has 125W fast charging technology pending for mobile devices and we will soon find out if the Realme 8 series will get it.

The Realme 7 Pro comes with an AMOLED display but doesn’t boast an increased 90Hz refresh rate. Perhaps the Realme 8 series will have a high refresh rate in addition to AMOLED technology.

The Realme 7 series phones are powered by MediaTek and Qualcomm processors. Realme 7 is powered by an Helio G90T processor while Realme 7 Pro is powered by Snapdragon 720G chipset. As such, it’s safe to assume that the Realme 8 series phones will offer more modern processor models.

The Realme 8 series is expected to be unveiled in March 2021. New smartphones will receive a camera with a resolution of 108 MP.

2. Mi 10i (он же Redmi Note9 Pro 5G)

Outside of China, the Redmi Note9 Pro 5G will be sold under the name Mi 10i, according to the XDA website. Based on the leaks, the new 2021 smartphone will feature a 6.53-inch display and could be available in three RAM / internal storage options:

  1. 4 GB / 64 GB,

2. 6 GB / 128 GB,

3. 8 GB / 256 GB

It will receive a 6.67-inch screen and a 4720 mAh battery. The Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 750G SoC.

1. iPhone 13 Pro

Why are we talking not just about the 13th version of the most popular iPhone, but about Pro, as the most anticipated smartphone of 2021? Because most of the rumors say high refresh rate displays (120Hz) will only appear on the Pro and Pro Max models. This will completely change the rules of the game for the iPhone 13 Pro models next year and will again create a very clear gap between the Pro and the stock models.

According to insider Ross Young, the miniature iPhone 13 will be 5.42 inches, the traditional 6.06 inches, the iPhone 13 Pro will have a 6.06-inch screen, and the iPhone 13 Pro Max will have 6.67 inches.

One of the few complaints about the iPhone 12 was battery life, and while it seems possible that Apple will address this issue with software updates, it will certainly make the necessary adjustments to the iPhone 13.

The regular version of the iPhone 13 and “ mini ”will have 2 cameras, while Pro and Pro Max will have 3 + LiDAR. Besides, the novelty, presumably, will work in 5G networks and will receive a Qualcomm Snapdragon X60 modem, with a maximum speed of 7.5 Gbps.
